Day 2 of Grad Project- I made an overview of what I did and put a short rough draft of what I plan on doing in this class...
Yesterday I started my search for an engine from a junkyard, but by the time I got home they were all closed. Erin said she knows someone who can help, so I am hoping she will help me find one. Thanks Erin!
*Internal combustion engine-an engine in which fuel and air are compressed into a small area or cylinder then ignited combusting the mixture
*Displacement-the total volume displaced or moved by the pistons in an internal combustion engine
*Combustion-the ignition or burning of fuel in an engine, providing more power
*Stroke-depending on the size of the piston and crank changes the stroke of the piston, or how far it moves. The longer the stroke the more air/fuel you can fit in the cylinder
*Bore-to make a hole in something, such as the cylinder, the bore is how wide or deep a cylinder is. The deeper, or wider a cylinder is the more air/fuel it can fit
*Torque-another measurement put out by an engine, relating to how fast an object twists or turns
*Horse power(hp)- a way of measuring the amount of power an engine puts out
*Global Warming-the increase in the worlds temperature, believed to be caused from greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide
*Emissions-letting something out, in cars this is exhaust and carbon dioxide which is bad for the environment
*Environmentally friendly-cost effective, uses low amount of fuel or energy, and emit low or no emissions
